In the Board and Paper Industry, creases are pressed on the surfaces for folding purposes after the production. Overtime the creasing tool undergoes excessive wear and tear due to which the creases pressed on the board surface lose their uniformity. Since the creasing procedure is highly standardized, these irregularities must be properly quantified otherwise improper creases can deteriorate the quality of the final board. Automated Crease Profiler is a fully automated Laser based system for scanning the surface of the board to analyze the quality of the creases pressed. It calculates the Height, Width, Rise and Fall time of all the creases automatically. These parameters can help identify substandard creasing to prevent poor quality boards in advance. We have successfully tested the system for TetraPak Pakistan’s board.
